Khunti, September 11, 2026: Verification of electoral rolls and disposal of claims and objections are continuing at polling stations across Khunti district under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.
Under the supervision of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Moh Javed Hussain, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) are examining documents submitted by voters in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
Multiple documents being examined
Officials are verifying a range of documents during the process, including birth certificates, passports, matriculation and other recognised educational certificates, permanent residence certificates, caste certificates and forest rights certificates.
Documents related to government employees and pensioners, including identity cards and Pension Payment Orders (PPOs), are also being examined.
The verification also covers certificates issued by banks, post offices, LIC, government departments and local authorities, along with family registers and documents related to the allotment of land and houses.
Claims and objections being disposed of
Following document verification and hearings, eligible voters are being included in the electoral roll, while necessary corrections are being made and claims and objections are being disposed of according to the prescribed rules.
The process of disposing of claims and objections under the SIR will continue until October 14, 2026.
Focus on accurate and transparent electoral rolls
Deputy Commissioner Moh Javed Hussain said the objective of the SIR exercise is to make the electoral roll accurate, transparent and free from errors.
He directed election officials to examine every claim and objection according to the prescribed procedure and ensure timely disposal of eligible cases.
The administration has emphasised adherence to the established verification process while making necessary corrections and additions to the electoral roll.
