Ranchi, September 2, 2026: Jharkhand BJP leaders on Wednesday approached the Chief Secretary with a memorandum demanding a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in various JPSC and JSSC examinations and the immediate withdrawal of FIRs registered against students during protests.
A delegation of BJP state office-bearers and MLAs reached Project Bhavan to submit the memorandum. The party also demanded action against officials it alleges were responsible for irregularities in the examination process.
The BJP claimed that students had conducted a democratic and peaceful movement for nearly a month over allegations of widespread irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations. According to the party, FIRs were subsequently registered against students at police stations in different parts of the state during and after the protests.
BJP seeks withdrawal of FIRs against protesting students
The party has demanded that all FIRs registered against students during and after the protests be withdrawn immediately.
In its memorandum, the BJP also referred to a Supreme Court order concerning FIRs linked to student protests and urged the state government to take the issue into consideration while reviewing the cases registered against students.
CBI probe sought into cancelled and postponed exams
The BJP has also demanded that the state government recommend a CBI investigation into JPSC and JSSC examinations that were cancelled or postponed over alleged irregularities.
The party argued that allegations concerning the examination process require an impartial and high-level investigation so that the individuals responsible can be identified and action taken against them.
The demand comes amid continuing political and student concerns over the conduct of recruitment examinations in the state.
BJP seeks action against commission members and officials
The memorandum also calls for action against other members of the commission whom the BJP alleges were equally responsible following the arrest of the commission’s chairman.
The party has further demanded an examination of the role of senior officials under whose supervision junior employees were allegedly working, particularly in cases where such employees were arrested in connection with alleged examination irregularities.
The BJP warned that it would launch an agitation if the government does not act promptly on what it described as demands concerning the interests of Jharkhand’s youth. The party said responsibility for any resulting agitation would rest with the state government.
BJP leaders present at Project Bhavan
The delegation included BJP state president Aditya Prasad Sahu, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, Chief Whip Naveen Jaiswal, former state president Deepak Prakash, national secretary Pradeep Verma, MP BD Ram, state vice-presidents Rakesh Prasad and Bhanu Pratap Shahi, and state general secretary Amar Kumar Bauri.
MLAs CP Singh, Manju Devi, Shashi Bhushan Mehta, Alok Chaurasia, Roshan Lal Chaudhary, Satyendra Nath Tiwari, Neera Yadav, Nagendra Mahto and Raj Sinha were also present.
The allegations raised by the BJP regarding examination irregularities and the role of officials remain political claims and are subject to investigation and due process.
