Jamshedpur, September 2, 2026: A 25-year-old man from Parsudih was found dead near Bankata forest along the Jharkhand-Odisha border in the Kovali police station area of East Singhbhum district, triggering a police investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Sikander Kumar, a resident of Parsudih who originally belonged to Chhapra in Bihar. He worked as an electrician under a contractor and lived in Parsudih with his wife and two children.
Kovali police reached the spot after receiving information about the body and began examining the circumstances surrounding the death.
Bike and mobile phone found near body
Police recovered Sikander’s body along with his motorcycle and mobile phone from the site.
According to the police, serious injury marks were visible on his face and head. The circumstances have raised suspicion about how the injuries were caused and how he died.
Sikander’s family has alleged that he may have been assaulted and killed. His elder brother, Jitendra Kumar, subsequently filed an FIR at Kovali police station against unidentified persons, alleging the possibility of murder.
Police await post-mortem findings
The exact cause of death has not yet been established. Given the location where the body was found and the reported injuries, police are examining murder among other possible explanations.
The body has been sent to MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur for post-mortem examination. Investigators are also examining the crime scene and surrounding areas for possible clues.
The post-mortem findings and further investigation are expected to help establish the circumstances and cause of Sikander Kumar’s death. The allegations of murder remain subject to investigation.
