Jamshedpur, September 01, 2026: Residents of Dumaria block in East Singhbhum now have access to a new 30-bed community health centre, ending a long wait for a larger public healthcare facility in the area.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Irfan Ansari inaugurated the newly constructed facility at Bhalukpatra Mauza on Tuesday. The centre has been built at an estimated cost of around ₹10 crore and has been planned for round-the-clock healthcare services.
The inauguration was attended by Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar, Ghatshila MLA Somesh Soren, Bahragora MLA Sameer Mohanty, MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and former MLA and former Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Balmuchu, among other public representatives and officials.
New facility replaces treatment in old building
Sanjeev Sardar said Dumaria had received a 30-bed hospital for the first time since Independence. He said that nearly 26 years after the formation of Jharkhand, residents of the area were now getting access to a modern healthcare facility.
Residents had so far been receiving treatment in the old hospital building, he said. The new centre is expected to provide relief to people from Dumaria and surrounding rural areas who require treatment and diagnostic services.
Sardar said the demand for a better hospital in Dumaria had continued for generations and called the opening of the new facility an important development for the area.
He also urged the Health Minister to ensure adequate doctors, healthcare workers, manpower and essential equipment at the centre so that residents do not have to travel to distant cities for treatment.
Centre to offer diagnostic and NCD services
The new community health centre has 30 beds and will provide several diagnostic and healthcare services.
These include various blood tests, services related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and an adolescent health counselling centre.
Through the Block Public Health Unit, patients will also be able to access tests related to tuberculosis, malaria, jaundice and other essential health conditions.
With the facility operating 24 hours, the centre is expected to provide treatment and diagnostic services closer to the rural population of Dumaria and nearby areas.
Plan to develop health facilities at panchayat level
Sardar said the next focus would be to strengthen healthcare infrastructure below the block level. Work is being planned to develop health buildings at the panchayat level so that residents can access basic healthcare closer to their homes.
He said development work in the Potka Assembly constituency was also being undertaken in areas including roads, education and other basic infrastructure, alongside healthcare.
Minister highlights expansion of healthcare infrastructure
Addressing the programme, Dr Irfan Ansari said the Jharkhand government was working to improve healthcare facilities across the state.
He said Jharkhand was expected to receive RIMS-2 in the coming period and added that new healthcare facilities would also be developed in the Potka Assembly constituency.
Ansari also praised Sanjeev Sardar’s work as an MLA, saying he remained active in addressing public grievances.
Plantation held after inauguration
After the inauguration, the guests planted saplings on the hospital premises.
Ansari, Sardar and other public representatives and officials participated in the plantation drive and highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean and green environment alongside healthcare facilities.
Civil Surgeon Dr Sahir Paul, Dumaria Circle Officer Pawan Kumar, Block Development Officer Nilesh Kumar Murmu, JMM district president Victor Soren, Mirza Soren, Bhagat Baskey and other health department officials, public representatives and local residents were also present.
