Jamshedpur, September 1, 2026: Jamshedpur District Police have expanded their patrol fleet with 40 new four-wheel vehicles, aimed at improving police presence and response capability across urban and rural areas of the district.
The vehicles, provided by the Jharkhand government, were flagged off by Senior Superintendent of Police Ehtesham Waqarib at the Golmuri Police Line on Tuesday. They have been assigned to different police station areas and the control room according to operational requirements.
New vehicles to improve response in sensitive areas
Waqarib said the additional vehicles would increase the district police’s patrolling capacity and allow teams to maintain more regular surveillance in sensitive and crime-prone areas.
The expanded fleet is also expected to help police respond more quickly to criminal incidents, emergencies and law-and-order situations.
Rather than relying on existing vehicles being moved between locations, the additional fleet will give police stations more dedicated mobility for routine patrols and emergency deployment, according to the police department.
District police fleet now includes 89 motorcycles and 91 four-wheelers
Before the latest addition, the district police had received 89 motorcycles and 51 four-wheel patrol vehicles.
With the addition of 40 vehicles, the number of four-wheel patrol vehicles in the district has risen to 91, according to the figures provided by the police.
The vehicles have been distributed among police stations and the control room based on local requirements.
Focus on public safety and crime control
The police department said the expanded fleet is intended to strengthen regular patrolling as well as improve the ability of police teams to reach locations quickly when incidents are reported.
Officials said the additional mobility will support crime-control measures while strengthening security arrangements for residents across Jamshedpur’s urban and rural areas.
