Chakradharpur, September 2, 2026: Preparations for the Janmashtami celebrations and annual fair have gathered pace in Chakradharpur, with temples and religious venues across the town being decorated ahead of Lord Krishna’s birth anniversary.
Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2026. Temples are preparing for special prayers, bhajans and kirtans, along with Krishna tableaux and other religious programmes.
The Porter Kholli area is expected to remain one of the main attractions during the celebrations, with the annual Janmashtami fair drawing visitors from Chakradharpur and surrounding areas.
Fair preparations gather pace
Shopkeepers and organisers have also stepped up preparations for the fair. Arrangements for children’s entertainment, including different types of rides and other attractions, are being planned.
Based on the arrangements made during previous years, the fair is expected to feature entertainment facilities alongside stalls and other attractions.
A large number of devotees from Chakradharpur and nearby rural areas are expected to visit the town on Janmashtami.
Focus on cleanliness, lighting and security
Organisers have said that arrangements will focus on the convenience of visitors, cleanliness, lighting and security within the fair area.
With preparations underway at temples and the fairground, a festive atmosphere has already begun to build across Chakradharpur ahead of the September 4 celebrations.
