Jamshedpur, September 6, 2026: The Jharkhand State Handball Association has constituted a new executive committee for the 2026–2030 term, with former Rajya Sabha member Dr Pradeep Kumar Balamuchu unanimously elected as president.
The new body was formed during the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the conference hall of the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Sunday.
Khurshid Khan was elected general secretary, while Victor H. Somaya was chosen as senior vice-president.
New office-bearers elected
Chet Ram Shringari of Deoghar and Gurubari Hembram were selected as vice-presidents.
MSA Siddiqui (Babu) and SSP Sinha were appointed joint secretaries, while Poonam Roy was named honorary treasurer.
The executive committee includes Santosh Kumar Singh, Bishnu Kumar, Junnu Rain, Mahima Sheetal Hembram, Shahbaz Khan, Shafique Anwar Siddiqui and Shilpi Rani Khalkho.
Focus on strengthening handball in Jharkhand
Handball Federation of India observer Virendra Kumar Behera and Jharkhand Olympic Association observer Anand Bihari Dubey attended the AGM.
The meeting also discussed the association’s upcoming activities and measures to expand handball across the state.
The newly elected office-bearers said the priority of the new executive body would be to strengthen handball activities in Jharkhand. They said efforts would focus on providing players with better training facilities and more opportunities to participate in competitions.
The association also plans to work in a structured manner to help talented players from Jharkhand gain recognition at the national level.
