Gumla, November 29, 2024: A shocking case of alleged teacher brutality has emerged from Gumla, Jharkhand, where a third-grade student was reportedly beaten severely by a teacher for failing to clean trash. The incident occurred on Thursday at Rajkiya Utkrimit Uchh Vidyalaya, located in the Chainpur block’s Sikri area. The child, identified as Asmit Oraon, sustained serious injuries, including severe swelling around his eye.
According to eyewitnesses, the teacher, Ranvijay Singh, instructed the students to clean the classroom and allegedly started beating Asmit when he hesitated to follow the instructions. The attack reportedly left the child with injuries to his head, back and eye.

Asmit was rushed to the Chainpur Community Health Center, where medical professionals expressed concern over his condition. Dr. D.N. Thakur, the attending physician, emphasized the urgency of consulting an eye specialist, warning that delays could exacerbate the swelling and lead to further complications.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage among local residents, who are demanding strict action against the teacher. Asmit’s grandfather has lodged a formal complaint at the Chainpur Police Station, calling for a thorough investigation and justice for his grandson. In contrast to the allegations, the school’s headmaster, Bileshwar Oraon, dismissed claims of physical assault. He stated that the injuries were caused by an accident during a cleaning activity when the children were running around. The headmaster categorically denied any involvement of the teacher in causing harm to the student.

Dinesh Gupta, the local Circle Officer, visited the hospital to assess the boy’s condition.
