Ranchi, September 07, 2026: Jharkhand Assembly Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi has questioned the role of former state DGP Anurag Gupta in the JSSC-CGL examination controversy and called for an independent investigation into the allegations surrounding the case.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Marandi also questioned the Hemant Soren government’s handling of the matter. He alleged that the government’s reluctance to take action against a senior police officer facing allegations raises doubts about the credibility of the investigation.
Marandi questioned why the former DGP had been so quick to reject allegations of a paper leak raised by students and had appeared publicly to counter those claims.
Babulal Marandi questions credibility of investigation
The BJP leader argued that questions surrounding the conduct of an officer should be examined independently before the investigation proceeds further. He claimed that without appropriate action against the officer, doubts could remain over the impartiality of the CID investigation.
Marandi also alleged that the officer had faced accusations related to destruction of digital evidence and attempts to divert the investigation. These remain allegations raised by the opposition leader and have not been established as facts in the supplied information.
Addressing Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Marandi said the government should take firm decisions if it was concerned about the future of the state’s unemployed youth.
He demanded an independent inquiry into Gupta’s alleged role and said that if the allegations were established, appropriate legal action should follow.
Marandi further warned that failure to take action against anyone found to have interfered with an examination investigation could undermine confidence among candidates and encourage similar conduct in future.
