Gomia, Bokaro, October 24: In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming elections, incumbent MLA Lambodar Mahto of the AJSU Party and independent candidate Iftikhar Mehmood filed their nomination papers on Thursday at the Bermo Sub-Divisional Office. This event marks a critical moment in the electoral landscape of the Gomia constituency, as both candidates present differing visions for the region.
Lambodar Mahto’s Campaign Strategy
Lambodar Mahto, representing the NDA alliance as the AJSU candidate, expressed confidence in the support of the electorate. “Seeing the enthusiasm among the people, I believe they will re-elect me,” Lambodar Mahto stated following his nomination. He emphasized the AJSU Party’s slogan, “5 years versus 50 years,” asserting that the achievements during his tenure surpass what others have accomplished in decades.
“We have transformed the landscape of this region, setting multiple records in terms of development,” he added.
Lambodar Mahto’s campaign is characterized by a focus on tangible results and community engagement. He highlighted various infrastructure projects and social initiatives undertaken during his term, which he claims have significantly improved the living standards of residents in Gomia.
Independent Candidate Iftikhar Mehmood’s Vision
On the other side of the political spectrum, Iftikhar Mehmood, a notable figure in the Jharkhand movement, also filed his nomination as an independent candidate. Iftikhar Mehmood criticized the lack of development in Jharkhand since its formation 24 years ago. “Despite the state’s long history, there has been little progress,” he remarked. He pointed to issues such as inadequate public services and the need for accountability in governance.
Iftikhar Mehmood is particularly vocal about his commitment to addressing the plight of ordinary citizens who have suffered financially. He cited the mismanagement related to the Sahara India crisis, vowing, “If elected, my first priority will be to ensure that the funds lost to Sahara are recovered for the people.”
Political Atmosphere and Public Reaction
The nomination event saw a diverse array of political candidates, reflecting the competitive nature of the Gomia constituency elections. Supporters of both Mahto and Iftikhar Mehmood gathered to show their backing, signaling a vibrant political atmosphere in the region. Local residents have expressed interest in the upcoming electoral battle, keen to see how both candidates’ platforms resonate with their needs and concerns.
As the election season heats up, Gomia stands at a crossroads, with key issues at the forefront of the electoral discourse. Voters will soon decide between the established governance of Lambodar Mahto and the reformative aspirations of Iftikhar Mehmood, making this election a pivotal moment for the constituency.
