Ranchi, October 08, (J.H.): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren extended financial assistance and state honors to the families of martyred constables Sunil Kumar Ram and Santan Kumar Mehta of the Palamu District Police. Each family received a financial aid of ₹1.10 crore, provided under the State Bank of India Police Salary Package Scheme, with the amount directly deposited into the beneficiaries’ accounts.
During a meeting at his Kanke Road residence in Ranchi, the Chief Minister personally interacted with the parents, wives, children, and relatives of both martyrs. He expressed deep condolences and assured them of the state government’s continued support.
Hemant Soren Honors Martyrs’ Families with Financial Assistance
Chief Minister Soren praised the sacrifice of the two police personnel, stating that Jharkhand will always remain indebted to its martyrs who laid down their lives in service of the state. He commended the coordination between the State Bank of India (SBI) and the Jharkhand Police Department in ensuring timely disbursement of the ex-gratia amount.
Soren urged the families to utilize the financial assistance meaningfully for their children’s future, emphasizing that the state stands firmly beside the families of its brave personnel.
Free Education and Residential School for Martyrs’ Children

In a significant announcement, the Chief Minister declared the establishment of a residential school in Ranchi dedicated to the education of children of martyred police personnel. The school will be built on four acres of land identified within the Jharkhand Jaguar campus and will operate on par with private institutions, offering quality education free of cost.
Soren added that the institution will be managed by the Police Department, ensuring holistic education and welfare support for the children of the fallen heroes.
Plans for Dedicated Hospital for Police Personnel
Chief Minister Soren also revealed that the state government is planning to construct a specialized hospital for police officers and their families. He said a comprehensive plan will soon be implemented to ensure access to quality healthcare services for all police personnel, reflecting the government’s commitment to their welfare.
Employment and Pension Benefits for Martyrs’ Families
Senior officials informed the Chief Minister that both widows of the martyred constables are graduates and will be appointed as clerks in the Police Department under the service regulations. Along with the ₹1.10 crore ex-gratia amount provided by the SBI, the families will also receive additional compensation under the state’s policy for personnel martyred in extremist incidents, bringing the total assistance to approximately ₹2 crore for each family.
Officials confirmed that all pension and retirement benefits have been processed and will be disbursed without delay.
State Government Reaffirms Support to Police Families
Soren instructed officials to ensure that all entitled benefits reach the families of the martyrs promptly. He encouraged them to remain resilient and assured them of continued state support. “The government deeply understands your pain and stands with you at every step,” the Chief Minister said.
Present during the occasion were Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, DGP Anurag Gupta, Palamu SP Rishma Ramesan, SBI Ranchi General Manager Manoj Kumar, AGM Reena Kumari, and Chief Manager Vikas Kumar Pandey, among other senior officials.
