Deoghar, December 19, 2024: A shocking murder case has emerged from Deoghar, Jharkhand, where the body of a Toto driver was discovered buried in sand near Joria village under the Chandan police station area. The victim’s face was severely crushed, pointing to a brutal killing. The deceased has been identified as Kundan Turi, 30, a resident of Ratanpur village in the Rikhiya police station area. The incident has left the community shaken, and police investigations are underway.

Police Recover Body Buried in Sand

On Wednesday, the Chandan police received information about a body buried under the sand near Joria village. Upon reaching the site, the police exhumed the body, which had been deliberately concealed. Due to the severe disfigurement of the victim’s face, identifying the body initially posed challenges. To establish the identity, Chandan police circulated the victim’s photograph to nearby police stations, including Deoghar, Jasidih and Rikhiya. Based on information from Rikhiya police, the body was confirmed to be that of Kundan Turi.

Victim Went Missing While Driving Toto

According to the victim’s family, Kundan left home on Saturday morning to operate his Toto. The family last spoke to him around 7:00 PM that evening. Shortly after, his mobile phone became unreachable. Concerned, the family filed a missing person report at Rikhiya police station. On Monday, Kundan’s abandoned Toto was recovered near Dighariya Pahad in the Jasidih police station area.

SDPO Initiates Investigation

Belhar SDPO Rajkishore Kumar visited the crime scene and questioned the victim’s family. He stated that while the motive behind the murder remains unclear, forensic investigations are ongoing. The SDPO assured that the culprits would be identified and brought to justice based on forensic evidence and further inquiries.
