Jamshedpur, August 30, 2026: Police have arrested two 19-year-old men in connection with the alleged trafficking of brown sugar in Ghatshila and seized 13.12 grams of the suspected narcotic substance, along with a motorcycle and two mobile phones.
The action was carried out in Amainagar area under Ghatshila police station on August 29 following a tip-off about two youths allegedly arriving from Musabani to sell brown sugar in the area.
Police Set Up Trap Following Tip-Off
Jamshedpur Rural SP Shubham Khandelwal said during a press conference that police had received information that two youths from Musabani were expected to reach Ghatshila with brown sugar for sale.
Acting on the directions of senior police officials, a raid team was formed under the leadership of Ghatshila SDPO Vikas Kumar Laguri.
The team intercepted two suspected youths near the Amainagar culvert after noticing suspicious activity. During the search, police allegedly recovered 13.12 grams of brown sugar from their possession.
A black Splendor motorcycle and two mobile phones were also seized from the spot.
Two Musabani Youths Arrested
The arrested suspects have been identified as 19-year-old Jai Mahanand, a resident of Three Number Harijan Basti in Musabani, and 19-year-old Akarshit Kumar, also from Musabani.
Police have sent both accused to judicial custody following their arrest.
Police Probing Supply Network
Investigators are now trying to determine the source of the seized brown sugar and identify other people allegedly involved in the supply chain.
Police are also examining whether the two arrested suspects were part of a larger narcotics network operating across the region.
