Giridih News: Students Accuse Kedar Hazra of Betraying Youth, Demand Action on Unemployment Allowance

Giridih, November 18, 2024: Tensions flared when a group of students confronted Kedar Hazra, the JMM candidate from Jamua and party leader Pranav Verma during an election campaign. A viral video on social media captures the moment when the students expressed their frustration over the government’s policies, particularly regarding the SSC CGL exam and unemployment allowance.

One of the students, visibly upset, confronted Hazra and Verma, alleging that the state government’s policies, especially related to the SSC CGL examination, were flawed. He also accused the Hemant Soren-led government of being indifferent to the needs and welfare of the students. The protest centered around two key issues, the failure to provide jobs and the non-payment of unemployment benefits to the youth.

The situation escalated when some supporters of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) tried to silence the protestors by asking them to leave. This only intensified the anger of the students, who accused Kedar Hazra of betraying them after switching political affiliations. The protestors argued that despite Hazra’s promises to address the youth’s concerns, nothing had materialized, leaving many students feeling abandoned.

The protestors also criticized the Jamua MLA for not taking a stand on critical issues related to students’ rights. The students maintained that if Hazra and other leaders remain silent on such vital matters, they will continue to face resistance from the youth.

The incident is said to have occurred in the Panchidih area of Jamua, which has gained further attention due to the widespread circulation of the video. Efforts to reach Kedar Hazra for his response were unsuccessful as he did not answer calls for comment.

The protest highlighted ongoing frustration among students over unfulfilled promises made by political leaders during election campaigns. They demanded immediate action on issues affecting their future, including job opportunities and the release of unemployment allowances. With growing discontent, many students have expressed their determination to hold leaders accountable for their failures to deliver on their promises.
