Adityapur, November 19, 2024: The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, hosted an innovative Science Innovation Camp on Tuesday, organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, the event introduced students to cutting-edge developments in science and technology.
Inauguration by Director Dr. Gautam Sutradhar
The camp was inaugurated by NIT Jamshedpur Director, Prof. Dr. Gautam Sutradhar, who inspired participants to embrace creative thinking and innovation. Highlighting the ongoing advanced research in various scientific domains, he encouraged students to acquire new knowledge and skills that align with emerging technological trends.
The event was spearheaded by Prof. Satish Kumar of the Mechanical Engineering Department, with support from esteemed guests, including Dean of Research and Consultancy, Prof. M.K. Sinha.
Participation of 160 Students
Approximately 160 students from nearby schools and colleges attended the camp, gaining hands-on experience in advanced technologies. Participants toured the institute’s state-of-the-art laboratories, where they explored modern techniques and equipment under expert guidance.
Prof. Vijay Dalla of the Mechanical Engineering Department shared insights on the latest developments in robotics. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Shailendra Kumar delivered a special lecture on the significance of the Indian Traditional Knowledge System. He emphasized the integration of cultural heritage and modern science, shedding light on India’s rich history of scientific innovation.
Interactive Sessions and Demonstrations
The camp featured engaging sessions, offering participants a platform to interact with experts and witness practical demonstrations of advanced tools and techniques. Students delved into topics such as robotics, automation and interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving, sparking curiosity and interest in pursuing scientific endeavors.

The camp concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bipin Kumar of the Mechanical Engineering Department, who expressed gratitude to the DST for sponsoring the event.
