Ranchi, January 04, 2025: In a significant development in the ongoing JSSC-CGL paper leak controversy, the Jharkhand CID has registered another First Information Report (FIR) following allegations of malpractice during the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) on September 21 and 22. The latest FIR highlights the expanding scope of the CID investigation into the alleged irregularities.
CID Takes Over Ratu Police Station Case
The CID has taken over a case initially registered at Ratu police station, which involved claims of JSSC-CGL exam malpractice. This marks the second FIR under investigation, with the first being lodged on the orders of the Jharkhand High Court. Officials stated that the Jharkhand CID probe aims to identify the individuals responsible for compromising the integrity of the examination process.
Evidence Collection Through Public Appeal
To strengthen the investigation, the CID plans to publish advertisements urging the public, including candidates who appeared for the exam, to come forward with any evidence related to the JSSC-CGL paper leak. Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta emphasized the importance of public participation, stating, “Anyone with credible evidence regarding the alleged paper leak is requested to submit it to the CID. All inputs will be carefully examined and integrated into the ongoing investigation.”
Details of the FIR
According to the FIR filed by JSSC, the examinations were conducted under strict protocols to prevent malpractice. However, after the exams, fabricated videos and images alleging a Ranchi paper leak began circulating on social media, raising questions about the examination’s credibility.
The initial FIR registered at Ratu police station was based on a complaint by Rajesh Kumar, who alleged misconduct. This case has now been transferred to the CID for further investigation.
SIT Formed for Comprehensive Investigation
In response to the growing concerns, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for the JSSC-CGL case has been formed under the leadership of CID DIG Sandhya Rani Mehta. The SIT includes senior officials such as CID SP Nidhi Dwivedi, Ranchi Rural SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal, DSP Amar Kumar Pandey and DSP Munna Prasad Gupta.
The team’s mandate is to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation into the allegations. The inclusion of officers from Ranchi police underscores the commitment to uncover the truth behind the JSSC-CGL exam controversy.
High Court’s Role in Initiating FIR
The second FIR was filed following directives from the Jharkhand High Court, which took cognizance of a petition filed by an individual named Prakash Singh. Singh alleged that despite filing an online complaint with Ranchi police on September 29, no action had been taken regarding the alleged Jharkhand paper leak case.
The High Court ordered that an FIR be registered based on Singh’s complaint and instructed authorities to submit updates on the investigation. The court has scheduled the next hearing for January 22, where progress in the case will be reviewed.
Impact on Aspirants and Examination Integrity
The JSSC-CGL paper leak SIT investigation has caused significant unrest among aspirants, who demand transparency and accountability. The controversy has also raised broader concerns about examination security in Jharkhand, with many calling for stricter measures to prevent future incidents.
As the CID investigation progresses, authorities remain focused on identifying and prosecuting those responsible for tarnishing the integrity of the JSSC-CGL examinations.
