Ranchi, September 1, 2026: The Jharkhand State Aarogya Society (JASAS) has begun preparations for selecting a new insurance company as the current insurance arrangement approaches expiry, while officials have been directed to clear pending claims and address technical payment issues affecting hospitals.
The directions were issued during a review meeting of the society held in Ranchi on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Ajay Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department.
The meeting reviewed the implementation and functioning of the Ayushman Bharat Mukhyamantri Jan Aarogya Yojana, Mukhyamantri Abua Swasthya Suraksha Yojana and SEHIS.
New insurance tender to be initiated
With the current insurance scheme nearing the end of its term, the meeting decided to begin the tender process for selecting a new insurance company at the earliest.
JASAS has been asked to prepare a presentation during the current month incorporating the additional facilities introduced over the previous years. Officials are also studying insurance tenders adopted by other states as part of the process.
Pending claims to be cleared within prescribed timeline
The meeting placed particular emphasis on claims pending with insurance companies. Officials were instructed to prioritise their settlement and bring the pending cases within the timelines prescribed by the National Health Authority (NHA).
Technical problems involving payments to hospitals were also discussed. Some hospitals have reportedly not received payments despite transactions being shown as completed in TMS 1.0 and 2.0.
Officials were directed to coordinate with the technical teams of banks, insurance companies and the NHA to resolve such cases promptly.
Vacant posts and new recruitment discussed
The meeting also considered strengthening JASAS as the number of claims increases.
Officials discussed filling vacant positions in the society and recruiting doctors and data analysts to support the expanding workload.
Ayushman coverage for frontline workers reviewed
Progress in bringing ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and helpers, along with their families, under the Ayushman scheme was also reviewed.
Officials were directed to identify eligible beneficiaries who have not yet received Ayushman cards and complete their e-KYC. Cards are to be issued through Common Service Centres (CSCs) and hospitals.
The meeting also stressed better coordination between PDS dealers and CSCs to facilitate the process and ensure that eligible beneficiaries are not left without coverage.
