Ranchi, August 28,2026: The Jharkhand Personnel Department has cancelled the appointment recommendations of two candidates, Sunil Das and Aryan, who were selected for the post of Deputy Collector through the JPSC 11th-13th Combined Civil Services Competitive Examination 2023.

The action was taken after the two candidates repeatedly failed to appear for verification of their educational, caste and residential certificates despite being given multiple opportunities, according to information issued by the Personnel Department.

The development comes after a CID investigation was initiated in connection with the JPSC case.

Candidates were given multiple opportunities

Sunil Das had been recommended for appointment as Deputy Collector under the Scheduled Caste category, while Aryan was recommended under the unreserved category.

The Personnel Department initially called the candidates for verification of their original certificates on August 19, 2025. After they failed to appear, further opportunities were provided on August 20 and August 28, 2025.

According to the department’s information, Sunil Das later submitted an application seeking time to resign and requested that the appointment process be extended by six months. The department provided another opportunity and scheduled verification for October 3, 2025, but he did not appear on that date either.

Aryan was also given several opportunities to complete the document verification process but did not appear before the department on any of the scheduled dates.

Appointment recommendations cancelled under examination rules

Citing Rule 37 of the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination Rules, 2021, the Personnel Department cancelled the appointment recommendations of both candidates on July 31.

The department cited their continued absence from certificate verification despite sufficient time and opportunities being provided.

The cancellation relates specifically to the appointment recommendations of the two candidates and follows the department’s stated action under the applicable examination rules.
