Ramgarh, November 06, 2024: In a coordinated operation, Ramgarh police arrested a 21-year-old member of the Pandey Gang, Gautam Rajak, who was allegedly in possession of an illegal firearm. The arrest, which took place following a tip-off from Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar, highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb gang activities in the region.
Police Operation in Ramgarh Leads to Gang Member’s Arrest
According to officials, Superintendent Ajay Kumar received critical intelligence regarding a potential criminal activity planned by the Pandey Gang in Digwar village. In response, SDPO Parmeshwar Prasad along with Officer-in-Charge Digambar Pandey, led a swift operation with multiple raiding teams across Ramgarh, focusing on suspected gang hideouts.
Suspect Attempted to Flee, Caught with Firearm
During the raid, police encountered Gautam Rajak, who, upon spotting the officers, attempted to flee the scene. Law enforcement officers pursued and apprehended Rajak, who was found carrying a firearm. A thorough investigation of Rajak’s mobile phone revealed images linking him to the illegal weapon, confirming his involvement with the Pandey Gang.
Confession and Gang Connections
Upon interrogation, Gautam Rajak admitted to collaborating with another gang member, Suraj Saw, who allegedly provided him with the firearm. Both Rajak and Saw were reportedly preparing for a significant criminal act in the area. Rajak also disclosed that additional ammunition was stored at his residence.
Seizure of Illegal Firearm and Ammunition
Following Gautam Rajak’s confession, police conducted a search at his residence, where they recovered a country-made pistol and one live bullet. The seized items were immediately taken into police custody and Rajak was detained on charges related to the possession of illegal firearms and his involvement in gang-related activities.

SDPO Parmeshwar Prasad commended the coordination and diligence of the raiding team, which included Officer Digambar Pandey and police officials Ashish Kumar, Manish Kumar Singh and Shah Nawaz Khan. He reiterated that law enforcement in Ramgarh remains committed to tackling gang activity and protecting residents from criminal threats. The Pandey Gang, known for its local influence, has been on the radar of Jharkhand police as they continue efforts to dismantle organized criminal networks in the region.
