Seraikela, September 1, 2026: Kolhan Divisional Commissioner and Roll Observer Raviranjan Kumar Vikram reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls at the Seraikela-Kharsawan collectorate on Tuesday, urging political parties and election officials to work in coordination to ensure a transparent and impartial process.
The meeting focused on voter verification, house-to-house verification, verification of enumeration forms and the progress of claims and objections.
Those present included Seraikela MLA and former Chief Minister Champai Soren, Ichagarh MLA Savita Mahato, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Nitish Kumar Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jaibardhan Kumar and District Deputy Election Officer Parul Singh, along with representatives of various political parties.
Draft voter list published on August 5
District Deputy Election Officer Parul Singh briefed participants on the progress of SIR-2026. She said the draft electoral roll was published on August 5, 2026.
The period for filing claims and objections has been fixed from August 5 to September 15, 2026, while the final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 19, 2026.
Officials also reviewed the status of house-to-house verification, verification of enumeration-form lists and claims and objections received so far. The meeting examined the verification and disposal of claims and objections in accordance with the prescribed rules.
Political parties raise concerns and suggestions
Representatives of political parties raised questions and suggestions related to various aspects of SIR-2026 during the meeting.
Officials provided information on the issues raised and addressed the concerns of the representatives. They also assured participants that suggestions would be considered and acted upon in accordance with the applicable rules.
Political parties were urged to participate actively in the claims and objections process and maintain coordination with the district administration.
Commissioner stresses coordination between BLOs and BLA-2
Commissioner Raviranjan Kumar Vikram said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BLA-2 representatives have an important role in completing SIR-2026 fairly and transparently.
He directed officials and political party representatives to maintain effective coordination and ensure that claims and objections are verified and disposed of within the prescribed timeframe.
The commissioner also appealed to voters to participate actively in the revision process. Voters who have received information related to verification or claims and objections were advised to complete the required process at the concerned polling station within the stipulated period.
Champai Soren calls for caution in urban areas
Champai Soren stressed the need for additional caution during voter verification, particularly in urban areas.
He said no ineligible person should be included in the electoral roll, while no eligible voter should be left out. He also called for the entire SIR process to be conducted transparently and in accordance with the prescribed rules.
Commissioner inspects hearings and public grievance process
After the review meeting, the divisional commissioner inspected the block office in the Seraikela Assembly constituency to assess the ongoing hearings and public grievance proceedings related to claims and objections under SIR-2026.
He sought information from BLOs and other officials about claims and objections received, their verification and the action taken so far.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Nitish Kumar Singh, District Deputy Election Officer Parul Singh, concerned Electoral Registration Officers and BLO supervisors were also present during the inspection.
The commissioner directed officials to hear voters during the proceedings and verify submitted documents and records according to the rules. He stressed that every case should be handled impartially and transparently.
Officials were also directed to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the electoral roll, while names of ineligible persons are excluded, and that cases related to hearings and public grievances are disposed of within the prescribed timeframe. Voters should also be provided accurate information about the process, he said.
