Seraikela, August 31, 2026: Deputy Development Commissioner Reena Hansda has directed education officials to take corrective measures in schools with low student attendance and strengthen monitoring of teachers, as part of an effort to improve the quality of education across the district.
The directions were issued during a review meeting of the Education Department held on Monday, where district and block-level officials assessed the progress of key academic and administrative indicators.
Attendance, enrolment and digital initiatives reviewed
The meeting reviewed block-wise performance in student and teacher attendance, enrolment, APAAR ID generation, birth certificate coverage, ICT laboratories, smart classrooms and academic rankings.
Hansda instructed officials to identify schools with consistently low attendance and implement targeted improvement measures. She also called for regular monitoring of teachers’ attendance to ensure better classroom engagement.
Focus on activity-based and child-friendly learning
Emphasising the need for quality learning, the DDC said children should be taught in a fear-free environment through activity-based and engaging teaching methods that encourage participation and interest in learning.
She also directed officials to complete pending teacher training programmes and other academic activities within the stipulated timeline.
Special support for low-performing blocks
The review meeting concluded with instructions to prepare focused improvement plans for blocks showing weak educational performance, with an emphasis on timely implementation and continuous monitoring.
District and block-level officials of the Education Department attended the meeting.
