Ranchi, August 31, 2026: Two patients with influenza-like symptoms have been reported at Rani Children Hospital in Ranchi and referred to RIMS for further testing amid heightened surveillance for H1N1 infection in the state capital.
The two patients reportedly had high fever, cold and cough. They were referred to RIMS in accordance with the prevailing medical guidelines for further examination and testing.
Eight of 11 recent samples reportedly positive at RIMS
The latest suspected cases come amid reported H1N1 detections in Ranchi.
According to the information provided, testing conducted recently by the RIMS Microbiology Department found H1N1 infection in eight of 11 suspected patients. A RIMS doctor and his son were among those reported to have tested positive.

Health department steps up surveillance
With H1N1 cases being reported, the Jharkhand Health Department has put health facilities on alert.
Government and private hospitals have been instructed to specifically screen patients reporting to outpatient departments with flu-like symptoms or respiratory complaints.
RIMS and Sadar Hospital have also been directed to keep isolation wards ready.
Doctors have advised people, particularly children below five years of age, elderly people and pregnant women to avoid crowded places where possible and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms develop.
