Ranchi, September 4, 2026: The Centre has released the first instalment of ₹211.26 crore to Jharkhand under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, clearing the way for housing assistance to 14,084 selected urban families.
The release follows the verification and scrutiny of beneficiaries through the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ portal. With the first instalment now available, the concerned urban local bodies have been directed to move ahead with the house construction process.
The selected beneficiaries are also set to receive the housing assistance directly in their bank accounts as preparations for fund transfers progress.
Each eligible family can receive up to ₹2.50 lakh
Under the scheme, government assistance of up to ₹2.50 lakh is available for construction of a permanent house.
The funding structure includes:
- Central government share: ₹1.50 lakh
- Jharkhand government share: ₹1 lakh
- Total government assistance: Up to ₹2.50 lakh
Any additional amount required for construction will have to be arranged by the beneficiary.
With the first tranche released and the beneficiary list finalised, the next phase will focus on transferring assistance and accelerating construction through the concerned urban local bodies.
The government has set a target of completing the houses within the prescribed timeframe.
