Jamshedpur, September 6, 2026: A new sacred Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj was installed at Birsa Nagar Gurudwara Sahib on Sunday with religious ceremonies and deep reverence. The occasion was marked by a Nagar Kirtan from Telco Gurudwara Sahib to Birsa Nagar.
Led by the Panj Pyare, the procession drew a large number of members of the Sikh Sangat. Devotees along the route welcomed the Palki Sahib with showers of flowers.
Nagar Kirtan begins with Ardas
The Nagar Kirtan began at Telco Gurudwara Sahib with an Ardas. The sacred Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib was then placed in a specially decorated Palki Sahib.
The Panj Pyare led the procession, followed by women from the Stri Satsang Sabha who sang Shabad Kirtan. Volunteers provided sewa by cleaning the route as the procession moved towards Birsa Nagar.
Arrangements for refreshments were also made for the Sangat at several points along the route from Telco to Birsa Nagar.
Sacred Saroop installed at Birsa Nagar
On reaching Birsa Nagar Gurudwara Sahib, the new Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib was installed with the prescribed religious ceremonies and due respect.
The programme was followed by the distribution of Langar among devotees.
Birsa Nagar Gurudwara president Paramjit Singh Roshan, Central Gurudwara Management Committee president Bhagwan Singh, chairman Shailendra Singh, general secretary Gurcharan Singh Billa, Sukhdev Singh Bittu, Surjit Singh Khushipur, Lakhwinder Singh, Surendra Singh Shinde, Sukhwinder Singh Raju and Arjun Singh Walia were among those present.
Representatives and presidents of various other gurdwaras also participated in the programme.
Sikh organisations support event
Members of the Central Sikh Naujawan Sabha, Stri Satsang Sabha and the Birsa Nagar Sikh Sangat played an important role in organising the event.
Rajveer Singh performed the sewa associated with the sacred Saroop.
The organisers thanked all sewadars, members of the Sangat and the local administration for their cooperation in conducting the programme.
