Dhanbad, September 6, 2026: A truck and a hyva collided on the National Highway near Ledatand under Topchanchi police station limits on Sunday after the truck driver reportedly applied sudden brakes to avoid cattle on the road.
The collision severely damaged the front of the hyva and left its driver seriously injured. His leg was reportedly fractured. The truck also went out of control after the impact and climbed onto the highway divider.
Truck brakes suddenly to avoid cattle
According to the available information, truck GJ27 TD 5819 was travelling from the Topchanchi side when a cow suddenly came onto the road near Ledatand.
The driver applied the brakes sharply to avoid hitting the animal. At the same time, hyva UP63 AT 4737, which was travelling behind the truck, crashed into it.
The force of the collision badly damaged the hyva’s front section and injured its driver. The cattle escaped without being hit.
Police restore traffic after removing vehicles
Topchanchi police station in-charge Val Kumar reached the accident site with police personnel after receiving information.
The injured hyva driver was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police subsequently used a crane to remove both damaged vehicles from the highway.
The vehicles were cleared from the road and traffic movement was restored.
