Ranchi, September 07, 2026: The Enforcement Directorate on Monday conducted searches at seven locations across seven states in a case linked to Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Mohammed Nadeemul Haque, with one of the premises located in Ranchi’s Kokar Industrial Area.
According to official sources, the Ranchi location being searched is a premises in the Kokar Industrial Area associated with Akhbar-e-Mashriq Private Limited. ED teams were examining documents and other records at the premises as part of the ongoing investigation.
The searches are being conducted simultaneously at locations including Ranchi, Kolkata and Delhi, with Kolkata reported to be the main focus of the operation.
Investigation linked to newspaper content and financial transactions
The ED action relates to complaints concerning the publication of alleged content capable of affecting communal harmony, along with suspected financial transactions and alleged funding through certain deals, according to the information available.
The case concerns material published in the Urdu daily operated by Akhbar-e-Mashriq Private Limited and alleged investments made in the newspaper.
The Enforcement Directorate had registered an ECIR after an FIR was lodged at the Bidhannagar police station and subsequently initiated an investigation.
During the course of the probe, the agency reportedly came across information relating to suspected money laundering. The searches were then launched at seven premises in Kolkata, Delhi and Ranchi.
At the Ranchi premises in Kokar Industrial Area, ED officials were examining documents, financial records and other material relevant to the investigation.
The searches were still underway at all the locations when the report was filed. Further details are expected as the ED operation progresses.
