Ranchi, September 08, 2026: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has emerged as a fresh political flashpoint in Jharkhand, with BJP state president Aditya Sahu accusing the state government and ruling parties of attempting to influence the exercise.

Sahu alleged that the JMM and Congress had opposed the revision process even before it began and claimed that efforts were now being made at the government level to affect its implementation.

The BJP leader particularly raised questions about electoral rolls in Sahibganj, Pakur and Rajmahal, alleging that irregularities existed on a large scale in these areas.

He further alleged that the JMM, Congress and some government officials were working together to prevent the removal of names that the BJP considers suspicious. Sahu also claimed that attempts were being made to protect names that the BJP has linked to alleged Bangladeshi nationals.

Sahu questioned the conduct of some administrative personnel, alleging that government employees were not maintaining an impartial position and were instead acting like polling agents of the ruling parties.

He also alleged that reports of assistance and protection being provided to Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the state had emerged, without providing specific details in the statement.

The BJP state president warned that his party would continue to raise the issue and would not remain silent over what it considers irregularities in the electoral-roll revision process.

The allegations made by Sahu are political claims and have not been independently established in the source material. No response from the Jharkhand government, JMM, Congress or Election Commission to these specific allegations was provided.
