East Singhbhum, September 14, 2026: Former Tata Steel Merchant Mill chief Sandeep Pal, 62, died after falling from a high-rise at Vijaya Garden Phase 7 in Baridih, under Birsa Nagar police station, in the early hours of Monday.
Following the incident, family members took him to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where doctors examined him and declared him dead.
Family cites mental stress
According to family members, Pal had been experiencing mental stress for the past few days.
They said he had returned to Jamshedpur around 15 days ago after leaving his daughter at a college in Mumbai for B.Com studies. The family said he had been concerned about his daughter’s stay and circumstances in Mumbai, following which his distress reportedly increased.
However, the exact circumstances behind his death have not yet been established.
Birsa Nagar police begin investigation
After receiving information about the incident, Birsa Nagar police reached the spot and began an investigation.
Police took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Investigators are also questioning family members and people in the surrounding area as part of the inquiry.
