Chaibasa, August 28, 2026: Three members of a family, including a 12-year-old boy, were allegedly killed in a land dispute in Kenjara Tola Tarobaburu under Tonto police station limits in West Singhbhum district. Police have arrested two suspects and recovered the three bodies along with a blood-stained axe allegedly used in the killings.
The deceased have been identified as Rajin Doraiburu, around 40, his wife Jano Doraybur, around 38, and their 12-year-old son Kande Doraiburu. All three were residents of Kenjara Tola Tarobaburu.
According to the complaint, the family was allegedly targeted over a longstanding land dispute. The bodies were reportedly concealed after the killings.
Complaint led to police investigation
The case came to light after Ramia Doraiburu, a relative of the deceased, submitted a written complaint at Tonto police station on August 26, 2026.
In her complaint, she alleged that three members of her family had been killed by unidentified attackers in connection with a land dispute and that their bodies had been concealed.
Police registered a case on the basis of the complaint and launched an investigation.
Special team formed to trace suspects
Given the seriousness of the case, West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Amit Renu directed the formation of a special raiding team under the leadership of the Jagannathpur SDPO.
The team conducted searches in Kenjara Tola Tarobaburu and detained two suspects for questioning.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Bonj Doraybur, around 19, son of Mahti Doraybur, and Muchia Doraybur, around 20, son of Mundua Doraiburu.
Bodies and alleged murder weapon recovered
Police said the two suspects allegedly confessed during questioning that the killings were connected to the land dispute.
Based on information allegedly provided by the suspects, police recovered the three concealed bodies and seized a blood-stained axe believed to have been used in the killings.
The investigation is continuing, while police are completing the process of sending the two arrested suspects to judicial custody.
Police team involved in operation
The team involved in the operation included Jhinkpani Circle Police Inspector Premchandra Bhagat, Tonto police station officer-in-charge Dhananjay Singh, sub-inspectors Randhir Kumar and Vijay Kujur, along with reserve guard personnel from Tonto police station.
Police said further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killings is underway.
