Hazaribagh, August 26, 2026: A meeting between the INTUC and BGR Mines management was held over the long-pending demands of workers employed at the BGR Mines under the Keredari NTPC project in Hazaribagh. Wage payments, implementation of High Power Committee (HPC) recommendations and skill upgradation were among the issues discussed.
The management heard the union’s concerns and assured representatives that necessary steps would be taken towards resolving the issues.
Union seeks time-bound action on workers’ demands
The INTUC and Congress delegation was led by Jharkhand Pradesh Congress spokesperson and general secretary Surjit Nagwala. He said workers’ rights and interests could not be ignored and urged the management to address their legitimate demands within a defined timeframe.
Congress district spokesperson Manoj Narayan Bhagat stressed the need to safeguard workers’ welfare, workplace safety and their statutory rights.
The union particularly pressed for wages to be paid in accordance with the rates prescribed by the High Power Committee. Representatives said workers should receive remuneration in line with their applicable entitlements.
BGR management’s HR head Srinivas Rao heard the demands raised by the union and assured the delegation that the management would take necessary steps towards a practical resolution.

INTUC state secretary Dheeraj Singh, BGR unit president Parmeshwar Kumar and Congress district spokesperson Manoj Narayan Bhagat were among those present.
The meeting was also attended by workers, union office-bearers and local representatives, including Sunil Kumar, Tathagat Vijit, Rocky Sinha, Mantu Singh, Ramdhari Yadav, Jitendra Goswami, Sandeep Singh, Pramod Singh, Manilal Verma, Santosh Gupta, Guddu Gupta, Dilip Yadav, Pankaj Paswan and Manoj Kumar, among others.
The discussions focused on resolving the workers’ pending concerns, with the union seeking implementation of the demands and the management assuring further action.
