Latehar, August 26, 2026: A one-day voluntary blood donation camp was organised at Balumath police station in Latehar district on Wednesday, with police personnel, local youths and residents participating in the drive.
Latehar Superintendent of Police Kumar Gaurav inaugurated the camp by lighting a ceremonial lamp. Addressing the gathering, he encouraged people from different sections of society to come forward for blood donation, describing it as an important humanitarian service.
Gaurav said donated blood can be crucial for people facing serious illness or those injured in accidents. He also urged people to overcome misconceptions surrounding blood donation and participate in such drives regularly.
Police personnel lead by example
Several senior police officers and personnel donated blood during the camp, turning the initiative into more than a formal inauguration. Their participation also encouraged local youths and residents present at the venue to come forward and donate blood.
Police officials said the department’s responsibilities extend beyond maintaining law and order and include responding to the social needs of the community.
The organisers also used the programme to encourage greater public participation in voluntary blood donation and awareness about its importance.
Donors felicitated
At the conclusion of the camp, the organisers presented certificates of appreciation to the blood donors and thanked them for their contribution.
Local dignitaries, a health department team and several police personnel were present during the programme.
