Ranchi, September 24, 2025: Jharkhand is set to achieve a new milestone in the field of sports with the upcoming Sports University in Ranchi and the continued development of the Mega Sports Complex in Hotwar. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has instructed senior officials to take concrete steps toward establishing the Sports University, highlighting that it will provide athletes with a strong platform to hone their skills and achieve excellence.
Ranchi Sports University to Boost Opportunities for Athletes
During a high-level meeting at the Jharkhand Secretariat, held in the presence of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs Minister Sudivya Kumar, the Chief Minister emphasized that the Sports University will open doors for Jharkhand’s athletes to advance in their careers with better infrastructure and professional training.
Officials from the Department of Sports and Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) also participated in the discussions focused on upgrading the Mega Sports Complex.
Mega Sports Complex in Ranchi and Its International Recognition
The Chief Minister pointed out that the Mega Sports Complex, Hotwar, Ranchi, has already given Jharkhand international recognition in the field of sports. Few states in India possess such a facility where stadiums for multiple sports are available within the same premises.
Over the years, the venue has successfully hosted several national and international sporting events, setting benchmarks in event management and athlete training. Soren directed that all stadiums within the complex should be maintained as per international standards, ensuring modern facilities for both competitions and daily practice sessions.
CM Hemant Soren Orders Removal of Shortcomings and Modern Upgrades
Hemant Soren instructed that all shortcomings in the Mega Sports Complex must be addressed on priority. He stressed the need for providing the latest resources, infrastructure, and technology to ensure smooth conduct of events and athlete preparation.
The CM directed that the upgradation process should adhere to global benchmarks, with the assistance of expert agencies. Advanced sports technologies and modern facilities are to be incorporated to create a world-class environment for athletes.
Senior Officials Present in Ranchi Sports Meeting
The meeting was attended by Sports Minister Sudivya Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Secretaries Manoj Kumar and Arwa Rajkamal, Sports Director Shekhar Jamuar, Chief Engineer of Jharkhand State Building Construction Corporation Sanjay Kujur, General Manager Avinash Kumar Deepak, CCL CMD N.K. Singh, Director (HR) H.N. Mishra, JSSPS CEO N.K. Jha, and Pranav Kumar, Group Head of Mass & Void Agency.
The officials assured the Chief Minister that necessary steps will be taken promptly to enhance the facilities and expedite the establishment of the Sports University in Ranchi.
