Ranchi, August 18, 2026: An investigation into alleged irregularities in Jharkhand’s competitive examinations, including the PGTTCE and CGL exams, has brought to light claims of organised malpractice involving Bluetooth devices, remote-access software and candidates allegedly working as solvers.

The details have emerged during the investigation by the police and Special Investigation Team (SIT). According to the source material, Abhay Tiwari, described as a marketing manager of TDPL, provided information to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) about how the alleged examination manipulation was carried out.

According to his statement as cited in the source, agents allegedly identified candidates willing to pay large sums of money. Certain examination centres were then allegedly selected, where software manipulation enabled people outside the examination centres to access and solve questions for candidates.

Alleged network linked to examination centres

The source identifies several centres in Ranchi and Bokaro where the alleged malpractice was said to have taken place.

These include a centre referred to as Bhavya in Ranchi, Sanskar IT near Sarla-Birla, another centre near Booty More and two centres in Bokaro. The information about these locations has been attributed to the statement cited in the source material.

The CID has reportedly received similar information from other candidates as well. The investigation into alleged irregularities in JSSC examinations has consequently been intensified, with the secretary of the commission also being questioned, according to the source.

Former JPSC chairman’s name mentioned in case

The source also links the case to former JPSC chairman and former chief secretary L. Khiangte, whose name allegedly surfaced during the investigation.

According to the supplied material, Khiangte subsequently resigned from his position and was arrested by the police. The source states that he was produced before a court and later sent to Hotwar jail.

Officials, intermediaries questioned

Investigators have also taken former Palamu BSO Tej Narayan Pandit and several intermediaries and coaching operators into custody for questioning, according to the source.

The supplied material states that irregularities were established in examinations conducted in 2023-24 and that those examinations were subsequently cancelled.

A case has been registered under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Jharkhand Competitive Examination Act, with further investigation and action underway.

The allegations and statements described in the report concern an ongoing investigation. Final responsibility or criminal liability of any individual would depend on the findings of the investigation and subsequent judicial proceedings.
