Hazaribagh, August 28, 2026: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has seized 113.32 tonnes of allegedly illegally stored coal during an operation in Chapri village of Barkagaon, Hazaribagh district.
The action was carried out by the NTPC-CMP Hazaribagh unit following information about a suspected illegal coal storage site in a remote forest area.
CISF team searches remote forest area
Based on the information received, a CISF team travelled to the suspected storage location, around 50 km from the unit, in a remote and difficult-to-access forest area of Chapri village.
The team conducted a detailed search of the area and reportedly found a large quantity of coal stored at the site. Additional personnel were deployed during the operation to conduct a wider search of the surrounding area.
Coal transported to NTPC weighbridge
The seized coal was loaded onto five Hyva vehicles and transported to the NTPC weighbridge for weighing.
After weighing, the total quantity was recorded as 113.32 tonnes. The seized coal was subsequently moved to the stocker-reclaimer area, where it was dumped and secured.
Operation led by senior CISF officials
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Senior Commandant Vivek Sharma.
Deputy Commandant Suresh G. and Assistant Commandant Sanjeev Kumar Meena were also present during the operation.
The CISF team continued its search in the difficult terrain before locating the suspected coal storage site.
Focus on illegal coal activities
The operation is part of CISF’s action against suspected illegal coal mining, transportation and storage activities in the area.
According to the source material, the force is maintaining surveillance over suspected coal storage locations and related activities, particularly in remote and forested areas.
