Bokaro, September 4, 2026: With cyber threats becoming an increasingly important concern for organisations, the Vigilance Department of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) organised a one-day awareness and training session on cyber security and cyber hygiene.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the C&IT Department as part of the ongoing three-month preventive vigilance campaign and preparations for Vigilance Awareness Week 2026.
The session focused on helping employees recognise common digital risks and adopt safer practices in their day-to-day official work.
Practical guidance on protecting digital information
A total of 45 participants attended the programme, including senior officials and employees from the Materials Management (MM) Department, Vigilance Department officials and representatives of mjunction.
Senior C&IT officials used the session to explain the cyber security infrastructure and digital systems operating at Bokaro Steel Plant, along with measures relevant to protecting organisational systems and information.
Participants were briefed on practical precautions such as protecting sensitive and confidential data, managing passwords securely and exercising caution while opening suspicious emails or clicking unfamiliar links.
The training also covered ways to identify common cyber risks and respond appropriately to potential threats during routine office activities.
Cyber hygiene emphasised as daily workplace practice
The programme placed particular emphasis on making cyber hygiene a regular part of workplace behaviour, rather than treating cyber security as an occasional compliance exercise.
Participants were encouraged to use digital resources responsibly and remain alert to potential security threats while handling official systems and information.
As part of the programme, the Chief General Manager (Materials Management) administered an integrity pledge to the officials and employees present.
The BSL Vigilance Department said such awareness and training initiatives are aimed at strengthening preventive vigilance, integrity and responsible work practices while promoting safer digital working habits across the plant.
