Ramgarh, September 04, 2026: A suspected brake failure turned a trailer into a runaway vehicle in Chutupalu Valley on Friday evening, triggering a chain of collisions that left several vehicles badly damaged and claimed the life of a motorcycle rider.
The deceased, who was travelling on a Passion Pro motorcycle, died at the scene. His identity had not been established at the time of the incident.
The trailer, bearing registration number RJ 05 GB 8875, was travelling from Ranchi towards Ramgarh when it reportedly lost braking control after entering the valley. After crossing the toll gate, it continued hitting vehicles along the route.
Biker crushed near watchtower
The most serious collision occurred near the watchtower in the Ramgarh police station area, where the trailer hit a Passion Pro motorcycle (JH 01 DE 6962) carrying a medical representative.
The rider died on the spot following the impact.
The trailer also collided with a Maruti Swift (JH 01 DU 5955), XUV 300 (JH 01 FF 0914) and a truck (MH 13 EP 6041). The trailer finally came to a halt after hitting the truck.
The source also reports that several other vehicles were struck during the trailer’s uncontrolled run through the valley. Some occupants of the smaller vehicles sustained minor injuries, while the vehicles suffered extensive damage.
Police move vehicles to restore traffic
Following the accident, Ramgarh police reached the spot and began relief and traffic-management measures. Ramgarh police station in-charge Naveen Prakash Pandey and other officers were involved in the response.
Some damaged vehicles were moved aside with assistance from Ormanjhi police in Ranchi district. The other vehicles involved in the crash were also removed from the carriageway.
Police subsequently shifted the heavy trailer to the roadside to facilitate restoration of traffic movement through the accident-prone stretch.
The trailer’s driver and helper reportedly fled the scene following the crash.
