Ranchi, September 8, 2026: The Jharkhand High Court has stayed the state government’s order cancelling appointments made following JSSC examinations, providing interim relief to 191 newly appointed officers selected through the JSSC CGL examination.
The petitions challenging the government’s cancellation order were heard by a bench headed by Justice Deepak Roshan on Tuesday.
During the hearing, the court directed the state government to file its response in the matter.
191 selected officers challenge government order
A total of 191 petitioners approached the Jharkhand High Court against the state government’s decision.
The petitioners include Akash Gaurav and others, who were selected and subsequently appointed through the JSSC CGL examination.
The petitioners were represented before the court by former Advocate General and senior advocate Rajiv Ranjan, along with senior advocate Dipankar Rai.
Government asked to file response
During the proceedings, the court directed the state government to submit its response to the petitions.
The High Court has, at this stage, stayed the cancellation of the appointments challenged by the petitioners. The order provides interim protection to the 191 selected officers while the matter remains pending before the court.
The court’s direction does not finally decide the broader dispute concerning the JSSC examinations or the validity of the appointments.
Relief also granted to 284 petitioners earlier
The latest order comes a day after the High Court granted relief to 284 petitioners who had challenged the state government’s decision concerning cancellation of appointments.
The continuing legal proceedings come amid the wider controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in JSSC examinations and subsequent appointments in Jharkhand.
