Chaibasa, September 2, 2026: The West Singhbhum District Mukhiya Sangh held a meeting in Chaibasa on Wednesday to discuss the rights and security of elected Panchayat representatives, organisational unity and issues affecting rural development, including the release of funds under the Fifth State Finance Commission.
The meeting was held at Hotel Sapron Suites under the chairmanship of central president Harin Tamasoy. Mukhiyas and Panchayat representatives from 16 of the district’s 18 blocks attended the meeting.
The discussions focused on strengthening coordination among elected representatives and collectively addressing issues faced at the Panchayat level.
Mukhiya Sangh stresses unity among representatives
Harin Tamasoy said the participation of representatives from 16 blocks reflected the unity and organisational strength of the Mukhiya Sangh.
He said the organisation was not against any particular individual but was working to protect the rights, dignity and security of Panchayat representatives as well as the interests of rural residents.
Tamasoy said Mukhiyas work directly among villagers and remain involved in Panchayat and public-interest activities at the grassroots level. He said the organisation would stand collectively with any Panchayat representative facing difficulties.
Focus on Panchayat development and collective action
The meeting also emphasised the need for greater coordination among Mukhiyas to address issues affecting Panchayats and rural communities.
Tamasoy appealed to the representatives to put aside internal differences and strengthen the organisation through greater unity and cooperation.
The participants discussed various issues concerning Panchayat functioning, representatives’ rights and security, as well as matters linked to development and financial resources for Panchayats.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on maintaining collective efforts to address the concerns of elected Panchayat representatives and rural communities in West Singhbhum.
