Chatra, September 4, 2026: Tension surfaced in Giddhaur block headquarters of Chatra district on Friday after an administrative team raided a private clinic locally known as Doctor Bengali and sealed the facility following an inspection.
The action drew a strong reaction from nearby residents, with a large number of villagers gathering at the spot and protesting against the sealing of the clinic.
Residents said the clinic had been serving local people for a considerable period and was an important source of medical treatment for people in the area. They argued that its sudden closure could create difficulties for patients and their families who relied on the facility for treatment.
The villagers demanded a fair investigation into the matter and urged the administration to reopen the clinic at the earliest.
Villagers question inspection process
The protesters also raised questions over the way private clinics in the area are inspected. They alleged that the health department does not inspect all private medical facilities using the same standards.
The villagers said the administration should publicly explain the reason for sealing the clinic and clarify whether the facility met the legal requirements for operation.
They further warned that if the clinic is not reopened soon, they would raise the issue with senior officials and voice their concerns over the functioning of the health department.
However, the specific grounds on which the administration sealed the clinic have not been made clear so far.

The inspection and subsequent action were carried out in the presence of Giddhaur Block Development Officer Rahul Dev, police station in-charge Purushottam Agnihotri and Itkhori in-charge Medical Officer Dr Sumit Kumar Jaiswal.
The clinic was sealed under the supervision of the officials.
With no detailed explanation of the action issued by the administration so far, villagers have sought clarity on both the reason for the sealing and the legal status of the clinic’s operation.
