Ranchi, August 31, 2026 : The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee held a state-level protest in Ranchi on Monday against the FIR registered against Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
Congress workers marched from the party’s state headquarters at Congress Bhavan to Albert Ekka Chowk, where they later burnt an effigy of the Centre as part of the protest.
A large number of party workers took part in the demonstration. Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, minister Irfan Ansari, former minister and MLA Bandhu Tirkey, MLA Rajesh Kachhap and several other senior leaders and office-bearers were present.
Congress calls FIR against Rahul Gandhi malicious
Congress leaders described the FIR against Rahul Gandhi as malicious and said the party would oppose what it considers politically motivated action.
The party also demanded that FIRs be registered against BJP workers in Uttarakhand.
During the march and demonstration, Congress workers raised slogans against the central government. Party leaders alleged that political action was being used to suppress the voice of the opposition.
The Congress said it would continue to oppose such measures through democratic means.
