Hazaribagh, September 04, 2026: Barkagaon police have introduced a technology-based system to make beat patrolling more accountable, installing Rakshak App barcode stickers at around 25 sensitive locations across the police station area.

The initiative is designed to create a digital trail of patrol activity. Police teams visiting designated locations will be required to scan the barcode, allowing senior officers to track whether a patrol team actually reached the spot and when the visit took place.

The system has been introduced under the beat policing arrangement and is being implemented under the leadership of Barkagaon police station in-charge Deepak Kumar Singh.

Patrol visits to be digitally recorded

The barcodes have been installed at locations considered important from a security perspective, including petrol pumps and Barkagaon Range Chowk, among other sensitive points.

Once a patrol team reaches one of these locations, personnel will scan the corresponding barcode through the Rakshak App. This will provide police officials with a digital record of the team’s movement and verification at the designated point.

The aim is to reduce the scope for gaps in routine patrolling and give officers a clearer picture of whether sensitive locations are being covered as planned.

Focus on sensitive locations and crime prevention

According to police, the system is intended to strengthen surveillance at places where regular police presence is considered important. Patrol teams will also inspect the respective locations during their visits.

Deepak Kumar Singh said the initiative is part of an effort to ensure that police teams regularly reach important and sensitive points across the station’s jurisdiction. Linking beat patrols with a digital monitoring system, he said, can strengthen both supervision and accountability.

Police are also expected to review other sensitive locations and add more points to the barcode-based system where required.
