Jamshedpur, November 02, 2024: In a recent press conference held at the BJP metropolitan office, BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo criticized Congress, asserting that “insulting women is embedded in Congress’s DNA.” He referenced instances where Congress leaders have used offensive language towards women, highlighting these remarks as indicative of a recurring pattern within the party.

Pratul Shah Deo Calls Out Congress Leaders’ Remarks Against Women

During the conference, Pratul Shah Deo cited multiple instances where prominent Congress figures made derogatory comments about women. He mentioned Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s term “tanch maal” (roughly translated as “fine goods”) and the term “rejected goods” used by Congress candidate Irfan Ansari. Shahdeo further highlighted derogatory language employed by Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena spokesperson, who referred to women as “imported goods.” These statements, according to Pratul Shah Deo, reflect Congress’s problematic view of women.

Lack of Accountability from Congress Leadership

Pratul Shah Deo expressed concern over Congress’s failure to take disciplinary action against these leaders. “It is surprising that the Congress top leadership has not acted against these individuals,” Pratul Shah Deo remarked. He also underscored that despite the controversies these comments generated, Congress has not publicly condemned its members’ statements. “Congress views women as objects to be used,” he added, condemning the party’s silence on these issues.

Insults Directed at President Droupadi Murmu

Pratul Shah Deo also brought attention to recent remarks made by Congress spokesperson Dr. Ajay Kumar about President Droupadi Murmu. Pratul Shah Deo stated that Kumar described President Murmu as “representing evil and malicious intent” and refused to acknowledge her as a symbol of India’s tribal communities. Shahdeo emphasized that such comments insult not only President Murmu but also the entire tribal community. He noted that Congress’s national leadership did not distance itself from these statements, implying their tacit approval.

BJP’s Stand on Women’s Empowerment

Contrasting the actions of the current Congress-led government with the BJP’s stance on women’s empowerment, Pratul Shah Deo pointed out that under the NDA government, women are making notable advancements. He highlighted the achievements of women in local governance, with 46% representation in rural local bodies and the progress of women in STEM fields, where they make up 43% of graduates. “Women are advancing in various fields, and Congress’s derogatory remarks reflect their discomfort with this progress,” Pratul Shah Deo stated.

Women to Respond at the Polls

In conclusion, Pratul Shah Deo remarked that Congress’s repeated disrespect for women could influence voter sentiment. He asserted that women across the country, offended by such remarks, would likely express their discontent through their votes.

Present at the conference alongside Pratul Shah Deo were Chhattisgarh MLA Bhawna Vohra, BJP District General Secretary Anil Modi and media coordinator Prem Jha.
