Jamshedpur, September 04, 2026: Temples across Jamshedpur have taken on a festive look as preparations for Krishna Janmashtami enter their final stage, with devotional programmes and special decorations drawing devotees to religious centres across the city.
Major Krishna temples and other religious sites are being adorned with colourful lights, flowers and tableaux depicting scenes associated with Lord Krishna. Preparations are also underway to decorate cradles featuring Krishna’s child form, which will be part of the celebrations.
Devotional activity has already picked up at several temples, with bhajans, religious recitations and kirtans being organised from the morning. Devotees have been visiting temples to offer prayers, while chants of “Hare Krishna” and “Radhe-Radhe” have added to the festive atmosphere.
Special prayers planned around midnight
Temple committees have planned special pujas and aartis as part of the Janmashtami programme. Cultural activities and Krishna-themed tableaux are also being prepared at several locations.
The main celebration will take place late at night, when special aarti and prasad distribution are scheduled to mark the birth of Lord Krishna.
Security arrangements in place
With devotees expected to gather at temples and other busy areas, the administration has also made arrangements to manage the crowds and maintain security.
The preparations have given Jamshedpur’s temples a distinctly festive appearance, with devotional activities, decorations and Krishna-themed displays bringing the city into the Janmashtami spirit.
