Art Integration: A New Dimension in Education

Ranchi, November 30, 2024: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently organized a one-day workshop on Art Integration at Jawahar Vidya Mandir (JVM), Shyamali, Ranchi. The event, held at the Dayanand Auditorium, was a part of the Capacity Building Program under the aegis of the Center of Excellence (CoE), Patna. Art Integration is being promoted as a powerful pedagogical approach that enriches the teaching-learning process and empowers educators professionally.

The workshop emphasized using art as a collaborative medium to connect with and educate every child, fostering critical thinking and creative problem-solving.

Participation from Across Regions

The workshop saw active participation from 65 teachers representing various CBSE schools across Mccluskieganj, Latehar and Ranchi. The attendees included educators from schools like Greenland Public School, Hatia, and Oxford Public School.

Prominent resource persons, Pallavi Singh, Principal of Greenland Public School and Khushi Ram Jha, Vice Principal of Oxford Public School, conducted the sessions using presentations, audiovisual aids, and interactive activities.

Four Comprehensive Sessions

The workshop was divided into four sessions, each designed to address critical aspects of art integration in education:

Introduction to Art Integration in Education: A comprehensive overview of how art integration enriches the learning experience.
Strategic Inclusion of Art in Curricula: Guidance on systematically incorporating art into school curricula.
Development Through Experiential Learning: Emphasizing the growth of critical thinking and collaboration via experiential activities.
Exploration of CBSE’s Handbook on Art Integration: Detailed insights into the guidelines and methodologies outlined by CBSE.

According to the resource persons, art integration is a model that combines art with other disciplines, offering students a unique entry point for subject learning. This interdisciplinary approach fosters key skills such as:

Principal Samarjit Jana of JVM Shyamali welcomed the guest educators, emphasizing that the seminar would serve as a guiding framework for teachers.
