Ranchi, September 04, 2026: Ranchi police have stepped up weapons training for personnel deployed on frontline duties, with a firing exercise held at the JAP-1 Ground in Bariatu involving Tiger Mobile teams and officers heading police stations across the city.

The session was organised under the directions of Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan as part of efforts to strengthen the force’s preparedness for situations requiring a rapid police response.

Personnel practised firing with small arms, with the exercise focusing on controlled weapon handling, accuracy and adherence to safety procedures.

The training was designed to reinforce skills that police personnel may need during sudden or emergency situations. The exercise covered handling weapons safely, aiming accurately and responding within a limited time while maintaining operational discipline.

Regular weapons practice is intended to keep personnel familiar with their equipment and improve confidence when responding to challenging field situations.

City DSP K.V. Raman said the training was being conducted in accordance with the directions of SSP Rakesh Ranjan. He said such skill-development exercises would continue regularly to improve the efficiency and mental preparedness of police personnel.

The police view continued training as an important part of maintaining operational readiness and strengthening the force’s ability to respond to law-and-order and crime-related challenges in the capital.
