Chaibasa, August 28, 2026: West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Manish Kumar has directed the district AYUSH department to organise regular health camps in remote and far-flung rural areas so that residents can access healthcare services closer to their homes.
Kumar issued the directions during a review meeting of the district AYUSH department at the West Singhbhum Collectorate. The meeting reviewed various activities of the department, including AYUSH health camps in rural areas and yoga sessions being conducted by trained instructors.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed reports on the camps, including attendance, health services provided, medicines distributed and the status of yoga sessions.
Free medicines and consultation at rural camps
Kumar directed officials to ensure that AYUSH camps are not restricted to block or district headquarters but are regularly conducted in remote villages as well.
He stressed the need to maintain adequate stocks of Ayurvedic and homoeopathic medicines at the camps. People attending the camps should receive medical consultation along with the medicines required for their treatment free of cost, he directed.
The move is aimed at making AYUSH services more accessible to people living in areas where access to healthcare facilities can be difficult.
Villagers to be informed before camps
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed officials to ensure that information about upcoming health camps reaches villagers in advance.
For this, local announcements through Dakua in the concerned villages were suggested as a means of informing residents about the date and location of the camps. Kumar said no eligible person should miss out on the services because they were unaware of the programme.
The meeting also reviewed yoga activities in rural areas. Officials were directed to ensure that yoga sessions conducted by instructors are held regularly and reach more people.
Focus on healthy lifestyle
Kumar said AYUSH is not limited to treatment and also promotes healthier lifestyles through yoga, healthy eating habits and a regular daily routine.
He called for coordinated efforts to ensure that the department’s healthcare and yoga initiatives reach people in the most remote parts of the district.
At the end of the meeting, officials were directed to regularly monitor AYUSH health camps and yoga sessions and maintain progress reports. The Deputy Commissioner placed particular emphasis on extending free AYUSH healthcare services and essential medicines to as many residents of remote and far-flung areas as possible.
