Ranchi, September 04, 2026: The spirit of Krishna Janmashtami filled Morabadi Maidan on Friday as Chief Minister Hemant Soren joined devotees at a Krishna Janmotsav celebration and Dahi Handi competition organised by the Shri Krishna Janmotsav Organising Committee.
The Chief Minister used the occasion to highlight the values associated with Lord Krishna’s life, saying they continue to offer lessons in truth, righteousness, love, compassion and duty.
Soren extended Janmashtami greetings to the people of Jharkhand and wished for peace, prosperity and continued progress in the state.
Dahi Handi competition draws participants
The celebration brought together devotees and participants for the festival programme, with Soren congratulating those taking part in the event.
He also honoured participants and formally inaugurated the Dahi Handi competition during the programme.
Speaking to those gathered at Morabadi Maidan, Soren said the large turnout had added to the festive atmosphere. He recalled his continued association with such celebrations and extended his greetings to devotees and participants.
CM calls for Krishna’s values in everyday life

Soren said the significance of Janmashtami goes beyond the celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth. According to him, Krishna’s life and teachings encourage people to follow the principles of truth, duty, love and compassion.
He said the festival also carries a message of strengthening love, brotherhood, harmony and mutual cooperation in society.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the blessings of Lord Krishna would bring peace, prosperity and happiness to Jharkhand and help the state continue on its path of development.
Jharkhand Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, minister Deepika Pandey Singh, MLA Suresh Kumar Baitha, former state Congress president Rajesh Thakur and Krishna Janmotsav Organising Committee patron Rajiv Ranjan Prasad were among those present.
