Chaibasa, September 07, 2026: Congress leaders and workers gathered at the party’s district office in Chaibasa on Monday to mourn the death of Jharkhand minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu and pay tribute to his contribution to public life.
The condolence meeting at Congress Bhawan began with party members observing two minutes of silence and praying for peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family.
Congress district president and MLA Sonaram Sinku described Sonu’s untimely death as a major loss for Jharkhand. He said the minister had been an active public representative committed to public welfare and that his death had affected the state’s political and social life.
Sinku said Sonu’s experience and active involvement in public affairs would have continued to be valuable to the state. He added that the Congress organisation stood with the bereaved family during the period of mourning.
Party members subsequently offered flowers before Sonu’s portrait and recalled his public and political work.
Among those present at the condolence meeting were Congress district spokesperson Trishanu Rai, OBC cell president Ranjit Yadav, Education Department chairman Purushottam Das Pan, Zilla Parishad member Jai Prakash Mahto, block president Diku Sawaiyan, Jai Prakash Laguri, Sikur Gop, Ashraful Hoda, Leonard Bodra, Soma Purti, Imtiaz Khan, Rajendra Kachhap, Vikramaditya Sundi, Gopal Bodra, Mathura Champia, Sursen Topno, Jahangir Alam, Kajal Gorai, Suraj Sundi, Bachan Khan, Chandra Bhushan Pingua and Sushil Das, along with other party workers.
