Bundu, November 30, 2024: A tragic road accident on NH 33 claimed the life of a 26-year-old youth, Biren Munda, a resident of Tangartoli in the Bundu police station area. The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon when Munda was standing by the Tata-Ranchi highway observing his goats.

High-Speed Vehicle Causes Fatal Accident

According to eyewitnesses, a high-speed, unidentified vehicle struck Biren Munda from behind. The collision was so severe that he was dragged nearly 800 meters under the vehicle before it fled the scene. Locals suspect that a Swift car was involved in the incident.

The impact of the accident resulted in Munda’s death on the spot. The vehicle driver fled immediately, leaving no trace.

Locals Block Highway, Demand Compensation

Following the incident, a large crowd gathered at the accident site, expressing their outrage. Protesters blocked NH 33, demanding immediate compensation for the victim’s family.

Upon learning about the accident, MLA Vikas Kumar Munda sent his representatives and directed the Bundu administration to address the situation promptly.

Assistance Provided to Bereaved Family

Local authorities responded swiftly by offering financial assistance to Munda’s family. After assurances from the administration, the road was cleared, and the victim’s body was sent to RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) for a post-mortem examination.

The incident has raised concerns about the increasing frequency of road accidents on NH 33 and the need for stricter measures to curb speeding and ensure road safety.
