Dhanbad, November 06, 2024: On Tuesday night, Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Madhavi Mishra and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hardeep P. Janardhan conducted an on-site inspection of the Maithan Interstate Checkpost situated at the Jharkhand-Bengal border. This checkpost has gained importance due to the upcoming elections, with heightened security measures in place to ensure a smooth electoral process.
During the inspection, both officials observed the vehicle inspection process and reviewed the checkpost’s operational procedures. They meticulously checked vehicle registration records and directed staff to register critical details such as vehicle numbers, owner names, addresses and contact numbers for every vehicle passing through.
The DC and SSP also interacted with the deployed magistrates, police personnel and security staff. They emphasized the importance of thorough vehicle inspections and sternly warned against any laxity. Madhavi Mishra and hardeep P. Janardhan instructed officials to seize any election-related illegal materials, such as cash, liquor, jewelry and narcotics and to ensure videography during inspections to maintain transparency.
The Maithan Interstate Checkpost, strategically located at the Jharkhand-Bengal border, is one of several checkposts set up across Dhanbad district. These measures aim to prevent any disruptions in the democratic process by ensuring that all vehicles are checked rigorously for prohibited items that could influence voters.
In total, the Jharkhand Police have established 11 interstate and 5 inter-district checkposts across the district, with vehicle inspections intensifying as the election date approaches. This proactive approach is crucial in maintaining election security and ensuring a fair and peaceful voting process.
